A Personal Alarm System to Suit Every Pocket

When we say that there is a personal alarm system available to suit every pocket, we mean this in more way than one. Not only are there personal safety alarms that fit a range of price tags, but they also come in different shapes and sizes, to suit the needs of the person using them.

While a personal alarm system may indeed be designed to carry in your pocket, others are supplied on a keychain, with a ring for your car or motor bike keys. Some look like toys, making them particularly suitable for children to carry. Others look like cell phones, while there are also designs that are small enough to fit into the palm of your hand.

Personal Alarm SystemWhichever type of personal alarm you choose to use, you do need to be sure that it is in a form that you can carry without any trouble. There’s absolutely no point in carrying any sort of personal safety alarm if you can’t grab it the instant you find you’re in trouble. So, for example, if you are a keen outdoor person who enjoys jogging or cycling, you will want something that you can wear around your neck, or perhaps something that you can clip onto your togs. If you travel on the road a lot, keychain security will be more up your street.

Some of the most popular personal alarm systems are those that make a huge noise when they are triggered. They are particularly easy to operate (no training needed) and the sound is absolutely ear-piercing. The idea is that any would-be attacker will get a huge fright and, even if this only puts the person off for a few moments, it will give you a chance to either escape, defend yourself, or at very least attract the attention of passers-by who will come to your aid.

Most personal safety alarms are really just small defensive tools and portable version of what we install in our homes. But they are ideal for carrying when we are out and about. They are also a reassuring mechanism to have on-hand at home when the security system is switched off. You may even buy additional portable defense items like entry alarms, door alarms, glass-guard alarms and so on that you can use to arm doors and windows when the main system isn’t armed.

If you shop around you will find a personal alarm system that combine other self defense weapons with the alarm, like an LED light that will temporarily blind an assailant. But many people opt to carry more than one device so that they can raise the alarm and then take more defensive action, like using a stun gun or some sort of self defense spray. In addition to the alarms, self defense pepper spray and stun guns you might use to fight off attackers, there are also various products that are designed specifically to ward off animals, particularly bears and vicious dogs. The most popular animal repellants are specially formulated animal sprays and ultrasonic devices that operate at a high frequency that only animals hear. Just be warned that the sprays designed for animal use are not the same as the sprays for humans.
