Personal Alarm Systems May Be Used Anywhere
Personal alarm systems are a wonderful invention because they can be used
absolutely anywhere. Better still, they are available in so many different configurations, with so many different
variations, that you can easily choose a personal alarm system that fits your personal profile.
Personal alarm systems aren’t that new, although in recent years the range of highly portable, really effective
self defense tools (as they are often referred to) has increased tremendously.
In general terms, it is possible to divide personal alarm systems into two generic types:
- Those that you can use at home.
- Those that you can use when you are out and about.
But the reality is that many products, including personal attack
alarms, are suitable for both applications.
The type of personal alarm that you might use at home will range from a hand-held device that you can trigger
yourself if you are attacked, or if you become aware that there is an intruder in your house or on your property,
to those that are designed to trigger an alarm automatically if a door or window is opened. There are various glass
guard alarm systems for window protection and quite a few different types of door alarm. You will even find door
alarms that combine with a more straightforward sort of personal panic alarm that you can trigger yourself.
Those that are suitable for taking out with you, when you are in your car, shopping or even
jogging or cycling may be small enough to fit into the palm of your hand. Others fit the keychain security description because they are made to look like a keychain, and they
are intended to be used to store vehicle keys.
But whatever they look like, personal alarm systems of this sort generally raise the alarm with noise when you
trigger them. The sound is typically loud and ear-piercing – designed to literally alarm any potential assailant or
attacker who, hopefully will flee as a result. At very least, the noise will normally stop them in their tracks for
at least a short period of time, and that’s when you need to make your escape or attempt to defend yourself. It
should also attract the attention of passers-by who one hopes will rally together and rescue you.
Of course there are also other types of self defense weapons that you can use, including various stun guns and Mace products.
Sometimes, noise-based personal alarms are combined with a self defense spray of some type, for example with hot pepper spray. With these you can make
a great deal of noise and then defend yourself by spraying your assailant in the face with pepper spray. It’s
the best of both worlds!
When you evaluate the various personal alarm systems that are available it is vital to assess your personal
needs. Remember that various designs are intended for different types of people, including athletes and those who
value exercising outdoors. There are also some systems that cater specially for families, including those who have
small children. So be sure to choose a system that really does suit you, your needs and your budget. More
