A Personal Safety Alarm is a Great Security Device

If you are one of those people who hate the thought of carrying a firearm, or even a stun gun, then a personal safety alarm is something you should consider.
Relatively new in concept, these devices are small, highly portable, and amazingly effective when it comes to self defense.

How they work is that if you are confronted or threatened by a would-be assailant, you trigger the alarm, and it lets out a loud, piercing sound. What it gives you is the immediate advantage of an element of surprise, so that you can either escape, fight back, or be rescued by someone nearby who also heard the noise. They are inexpensive and easy to use (even a child can trigger one in an instant). If you are a woman or a child who feel insecure, it is a vital item to carry. But you must remember to keep it accessible at all times.

There are various different types of personal safety alarm, some of which are combined with other forms of self defense, including stun guns and pepper or mace sprays. Some combine with key rings, which is great because you are less likely to forget to take them wherever you go. Others have a flashlight or an LED light with them, which is ideal for night use, to see where you are going and to shine right into the face of a would-be attacker. Those designed for children look more like toys than any sort of personal panic alarm.

If someone tries to grab it from you, let them. With the pin removed, the noise will simply continue. Throw the pin into the bushes so that they can’t find it and replace it. That noise will attract passers-by, or anybody in the neighborhood.

Even if you do carry a weapon of some sort, or a stun gun or perhaps a pepper spray device, personal alarm systems are a wonderful first line of defense. A personal alarm is not only intended for use outside of the house. You can also use it when you are home alone. But don’t ever rely completely on any sort of safety device.
